1. Paints, Coatings, & Printing Inks: Used as a thinner, solvent, and carrier fluid in decorative alkyd paints, varnishes, wood stains, and offset inks where slow, even drying and minimal odor are required for indoor use.

2. Industrial & Automotive Cleaning: Serves as an effective, low-odor degreasing agent for machinery parts, metal components, automotive engines, and precision equipment without causing rapid flash rusting or chemical corrosion.

3. Adhesives & Sealants: Functions as a diluent and viscosity control agent in solvent-based rubber adhesives, silicone sealants, and mastic formulations.

4. Consumer & Household Formulations: Formulated into household polishes, waxes, aerosol insect sprays, charcoal lighter fluids, and hand cleaners due to its low dermal toxicity and faint scent.

5. Agrochemical Carriers: Applied as a carrier solvent for pesticides, herbicides, and crop protection chemicals to ensure uniform distribution over plant foliage.

Safety, Handling, & Environmental Considerations

While D40 Solvent offers significant health and safety advantages over aromatic solvents (such as toluene or xylene), standard chemical safety precautions must be followed:

• Flammability: Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and hot surfaces. Use in well-ventilated areas with static-grounded equipment.

• Health Aspects: Low acute toxicity via skin contact or inhalation. However, prolonged exposure can cause mild skin dryness, while direct aspiration into the lungs during swallowing presents a severe medical risk (aspiration hazard).

• Storage: Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space away from strong oxidizing agents.
